Lamant de Jeju
라망드제주
A café I remember more for the space.

Lamant de Jeju is the kind of café I remember for the space before anything on the menu.

The building, garden and furniture set a different mood from the ocean-view cafés I usually encounter in Jeju.
It does not feel like a literal recreation of Europe. Still, walking through the garden can briefly feel like arriving at a café somewhere in Europe.

What I like most here is the room to breathe.
The interior is spacious, and each floor has a slightly different mood. Even with a fair number of people around, it rarely feels cramped.
On a hot summer day, the cool interior is a relief.
More importantly, the space feels clean and carefully maintained. Plenty of cafés look good in photographs; fewer are comfortable enough to sit in for a while. Lamant de Jeju is closer to the latter.
I have tried the ribbon pastry, sapphire ade and French toast over several visits.
Even so, no single item is the main reason I remember the place. It is somewhere I like to sit slowly with coffee or a pastry.

AT A GLANCE
At a Glance
- ATMOSPHERE
- Garden and a spacious, cool interior
- THE SPACE
- A slightly different mood on each floor
- STAY A WHILE
- Clean, well maintained and comfortable for a longer pause
- MY VISIT
- Comfortable when visiting with a dog
The sea appears beyond the garden as the light drops, but sunset is not the only reason the place stays with me.
It was also comfortable to visit with a dog. I would still check the café's latest guidance for the areas and conditions that apply.
