PANPO PORT
Panpo has changed a great deal in just a few years.
From what I have seen over several years, each summer at Panpo has become busier than the last. Until two years ago, the clearest change was the rise in Korean visitors. Since last year, I have also noticed far more travelers from overseas.
Panpo is no longer a quiet little port in summer. Swimmers and snorkelers fill the water, and the movement continues until people begin packing up for the evening.
Outside the summer season, the port settles again. I return then when I want to see the small harbor and village at a slower pace.
I also like sunset here, but it does not look the same as nearby Hyeopjae, Geumneung or Wollyeong. At Panpo, the light falls over a port as the last swimmers leave the water.
